Kateri - As Inspired by Beauty and the Beast
The location
I'm a reader. I love every second of it. I don't think that I've ever picked up a book and not finished it. I wish I had done some of my senior photos in a library, honestly. Since I didn't, it's only fair that I took my love for books and turned it into inspiration for the senior photography session that I just completed with Kateri. I called the library in Windsor, Colorado and asked if they would have any problems with me doing a photoshoot for senior pictures there, and I was so elated when they told me it wasn't an issue as long as we were respectful of the other patrons! The library in Windsor isn't big, it's very simple, and - surprisingly - very bright. Thankfully, we went during slow time and were able to find plenty of quiet aisles to use for the shoot. I did worry a little bit about how bright the lighting was but knew that I would just have to do some post shoot magic! The photo that I desperately wanted to create definitely leaned toward moody, so bright light was not the best aesthetic to work with. Regardless of the bright light, I was able to pull off the exact photo that I was aiming create. Look at the before and after.

The Dress
The dress that Kateri is wearing for this senior session is part of my client closet. When I found it, I just knew that I needed to buy it. It is true red, which is flattering on all skin tones, so it was the perfect addition to the closet. The dress has a puffy tulle skirt and puffy off the shoulder (technically non attached) sleeves. It ties up the back and has a lace corset top. The dress is perfect for all types of photoshoots and the girls that wear it have so much fun! This beautiful red dress is a fun way to make any senior photo session feel just a bit extra special. Getting the dress made me want to do a library photoshoot even more than I already wanted to because - even though it's red - it reminded me of Belle from Beauty and The Beast. Naturally, I had to take the red dress and make it yellow for just one photo.

The Model
Kateri was so excited to do this shoot with me and just so good at following prompts! She does some theatre in high school, so it must help her in front of the camera because she is spectacular. I wanted to go for a natural yet romantic vibe so I asked her to curl her hair slightly wavy and keep her make up simple. It was so hard to only hype her up with my whisper cheers because she truly was a dream during this session! I didn't want her to only end up with fancy dress photos though, so I made sure to include some of here in some casual every day clothes as well. Take a look at the cute outfit she put together!
Dream Come True
This photoshoot was a complete dream come true for me. I am so thankful that the location, the dress, and the model all came together so perfectly!
