My Top Locations for your session
If you're reading this, that means that we've booked a session and now we're trying to decide on an official location for you photos! YAY!!! Thankfully Colorado has so much beauty and character. You are bound to find the perfect location for you and your photos! I'm always open to suggestions from you as well, so don't feel like you can only pick from this list. If you have a location in mind that you love or that is special to you and your family, I'd love to do your photos there.
Horsetooth Resevoir
There are about 3-4 different areas along the East side of the lake that we can use as a location for our photos. This area will give us sweeping views of the mountains and depending on water levels, of the lake, too!
Chapunga Statue Park
This location is right at the Centerra Mall in Loveland/Johnstown. It will give us beautiful Fall Colors and Evergreens as well as bridges and some water features. This is a favorite location in the Fall and Winter!
Poudre Nature Center
This location is in West Greeley and will provide us with fields, ponds, the Poudre River, flowers (garden and wild), and trees. Great location for Spring, Summer, and Fall!
Arapahoe Bend Natural Area
This location is right off of Harmony and I-25. It offers big cottonwoods, rabbit brush (golden yellow in the fall/winter), a lake, and big open fields!
Reservoir Ridge Natural Area
This location will offer wide and distant views of the mountains with big open fields. There are also some tree areas and a lake.
Eagles Nest Open Space
This location offers rolling hills and distant views of the mountains as well. It's about a 45 minute drive from my home in Severance; on the way to Red Feathers.
Lory State Park
This location is on the West of Horsetooth Reservoir. If it's been a particularly wet leading up to the date of your photoshoot, we might not be able to shoot here because they close the trails if they're muddy.
Bingham Hill Park
This is a super small location but offers stunning views of the mountains. In the summer it does have wild flowers in blooms and a couple of trees. It's in Northern Fort Collins/LaPorte
Maxwell Natural Area
This is at the base of Horsetooth Reservoir and will offer a "mountain prairie" vibe. It also offers quick access to Pineridge Natural Area and Horestooth.
Eastman Park
A favorite location in Windsor. It has big cottonwoods, small "willowy" trees, open fields, bridges, flower gardens, the Poudre River and a few evergreens. This location is my absolute favorite to shoot at, but it can be pretty busy!
Horsetooth Falls Trailhead
This will offer mountain views and fields! As well as some Evergreens, especially if you're willing to hike. This location will always require a bit of an earlier start because the sun "sets" early.
There is a parking lot fee for this location.
Carter Lake
This location is a dream. There are mountain views, rocky areas, we can get down close to the water, evergreens and deciduous trees as well.
There is an entry fee for this location.
Viestenz-Smith Mountain Park
This location is up HWY 34 into the canyon just passed The Dam Store. It will offer mountain views, cabin/wooded structures, ever greens, river access, bridges, etc.
The sun will set "sooner" here, so we will need to get an earlier start.
Signature Bluffs Natural Area
Located in Greeley. This location offers a "barn" for a country/wester vibe, trees, fields, wooden bridges, and flowers.
The Oval at CSU
This location is right in the middle of CSU. It offers huge cottonwood trees, old buildings, steps, benches.
It looks especially stunning in the Fall and Summer.
Josephine Jones Park
Located in Greeley - the park that you can see from HWY 34 with the big metal sunflowers. It has a pond, evergreens, and tall grasses. Good for year round photos!
Morning Fresh Dairy
This location is dependent upon approval from the Dairy Farm owners. But it has an old school house, a small wooden barn, a creek and big trees all around it. There is a travel fee of $25 for this location.
Bobolink Spur Resevoir Traihead
This location is right on the North West edge of Fort Collins (close to LaPorte) and offers grass, wooden fences and old(ish) barns with really tall Evergreens and a view of the foothills.
Redtail Open Space
This is right off of College on the South side of Fort Collins, so it is a little noisy. It's perfect for Spring, Summer, and Fall. In the warmer seasons, we'll want to watch for snakes. There's a bridge, tall grasses and if you're willing to walk a bit, small views of the foothills.
Your Home
At the end of the day, your home is where you are most comfortable and can make an excellent spot for taking natural/comfortable photos. We can easily capture you hanging out in your favorite spot on the porch, cooking dinner together, etc. This doesn't have to be a location reserved for newborn shoots.
Picnic Rock Natural Area
This location is up the Poudre Canyon and right at the edge of the burn scar from the Cameron Peak fire. The river will be right there, as well as canyon views, evergreens, and deciduous trees. There is no cell phone service here, so you'll want to start navigation prior to getting in the canyon.
Because we're in the canyon, the sun will set "sooner," so we'll need to get an earlier start than normal.
There is a $25 fee for traveling to this location.
City Park (Fort Collins)
This park provides us with open spaces as well as unique "cottage" and whimsical-like aesthetic. It has very massive ever greens, stone walls, ivy, and bridges. In the Spring is has flowering trees. It's quite beautiful and very close to CSU campus.
Other location options:
I have several other locations that I have shot at that I do not have listed here for a variety of reasons. If there is a photo in my portfolio or on social media that you love the aesthetics of and want to shoot at, send it to me and I will get you to that location.
We can shoot in downtown Fort Collins, Loveland, Windsor. Depending on the final location choice, there may be extra costs associated with it (think permits, parking, travel fees). I will travel to Estes Park, Lyons, or Red Feathers for an additional $75. I will travel to Red Rocks or Denver for an additional $100. In addition to these places, there are studio rentals in Fort Collins, Loveland, and Windsor. If you choose a studio session, it is your responsibility to cover the studio fees.
